John Waters the historic filmmaker known for beginning the careers of Divine, Mink Stole and Ricki Lake in such unforgettable films such as Hairspray, Cry-Baby and Serial Mom, is comin’ to town and you better be naughty not nice! The cult icon sat down with Nunn on the Run to talk about his book Role Models.
Jerry Nunn: Hi, John. I just plowed through your book. They just got it to me today.
John Waters: That’s called cramming, isn’t it?
JN: Yes, I really liked it. It was injected with your life but such an homage to other people.
JW: Well, it was a memoir and it was reporting. It was a couple of genres turned into one.
Julie Brown has kept people rolling in the aisles for years with her movies and stand-up. She is known for taking on her Hollywood comrades with award-winning parody.
Now the comedienne is taking on Lady Gaga and Ke$ha on her new album, Smell the Glamour.
Jerry Nunn: Hi, Julie. How have you been?
JB: (Julie Brown) I have been good and making this record this year. I have been writing and working. My son got old enough so I figured I can start doing crazy stuff like this again.
Lollapalooza brought in crowds of over 70,000 this past weekend. With eight stages to choose from fans were offered a variety of acts from Erykah Badu (pictured below) to Devo to Soundgarden. But it was Lady Gaga who upstaged many groups as she crowd surfed with Justin Tranter the lead singer from Semi Precious Weapons (photo credit Bronques) and Gaga wannabes dressed liked her.
With fun after parties at the Hard Rock sponsored by Warner Brothers (pic with David Arquette), photographing and interviewing bands this weekend kept Nunn on the Run running all over the city!

Derrick Barry blew up on NBC’s America’s Got Talent and proved he was not that innocent as a Britney Spears impersonator. Haus of Gaga arrives for a very special night at Hydrate.
Jerry Nunn: Hi. So how are you today?
Derrick Barry: I’m feeling excellent. How are you doing?
JN: Great. So, you are from California?
DB: I’m originally from Modesto in California, it’s the Central Valley and I’ve lived in Vegas for over six years.
Wanda Sykes is a comedian, actress, activist and lesbian mom. For five seasons she played Barb on the CBS comedy The New Adventures of Old Christine and was nominated for a Emmy for her HBO comedy special. Nunn on the Run walked the talk with Sykes.
Jerry Nunn: How’s life, Wanda?
Wanda Sykes: Oh, life is great!
JN: I heard you used to work security. Did you always want to be a comedian?
WS: I wanted to do something in showbiz, I guess. I didn’t know anyone in the business so I did the plan that pretty much everyone did. I went to college and got a degree. I moved to the DC area and worked for the government. I got really bored at my government job so it made sense to try something else.
JN: Well, it has worked out for you.
WS: Yeah, it did. [ Both laugh. ] It has been a wise choice.

Jerry Nunn: Hi, Justin.
Justin Tranter: How are ya?
JN: I am good. Are you in Australia now?
JT: I am in Sydney, now yes.
JN: That must have been a long flight.
JT: We flew from London. It was like a twenty-four flight. There was a two-hour layover in Hong Kong. It was pretty awesome.
