Chaz Bono 2

Author and entertainer Chaz Bono follows up his Becoming Chaz Emmy Award nominated documentary with Being Chaz. This film by the Oprah Winfrey Network follows Chaz on Dancing with the Stars and gives a behind the scenes account of life with fiancé Jen.

Produced by the Worlds of Wonder team of Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato and directed by Elise Duran, this film shows an example of the trails and tribulation of being openly transgender in life today.

Jerry Nunn: Hi, Chaz. I interviewed you for your book Transition. How did you deal with the pressure of being on Dancing with the Stars since then?

Chaz Bono: I’ve been doing LGBT activism for a long time now, since 1995, and I’ve gone up against people like Jerry Falwell and stuff like that. So dealing with that kind of controversy isn’t really new to me and it was pretty easy to let that roll off my back because of the support that I was getting. I got so much support that I did feel a lot of pressure and I wanted to do a good job because I knew people were supporting me. I didn’t want to let anybody down. So I think that’s where some of the pressure that I felt came from.

JN: Was the controversy expected?

CB: I was prepared for something but I think it became larger than I expected, not just the criticism but then the supportive response to that was so completely overwhelming to me.

JN: Are you ready for the finale next week?

John O’Hurley will be giving audiences the razzle-dazzle with Broadway in Chicago’s production of Chicago as Billy Flynn this June. This slick-talking actor”and former Dancing with the Stars winner”sat down face to face with Nunn on the Run.

Jerry Nunn: Welcome to Chicago! Have you spent much time in the city?

John O’Hurley: Yes, I have. But I have not really done any theater here before”which is my regret because it is one of the great theater communities in America. So many things have their genesis here and have moved to other places to become great theatrical pieces based on their origins in Chicago.

JN: After reading your background, I was blown away by what a large amount of work you have done. How do you find time to do it all?
