Young Sun Han

Bravo Channel’s Work of Art: The Next Great Artist has rising artist Young Sun from Illinois as part of the competition. For this second season the artists once again face challenges in groups and solo to win an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum and $100,000.

The future looks bright for Sun and we brushed up on such topics as Prop 8 and hugging for 24 hours.

Jerry Nunn: Hello, Young. Tell me a bit about your background.

Young Sun: I am Korean. I was born in Evanston. I went to school in Chicago. I worked for a year abroad in London and in Germany. I worked as a teacher in Korea for a few months. I really got bit by the travel bug as a student.

JN: This is the second season for Work of Art. Did you watch the first one?

Celebs in the City

Forget La La Land and that big island New York, Chicago really is the place to spot and hang out with celebrities. First off almost everyone comes through here (except for Kylie on her last tour, I just can’t get that out of my head) for concerts, promotional appearances and now The Rosie Show.
If you are downtown on Michigan Avenue your chances are big that you might spot one shopping or on their way to their event. For my stalker celebrity friends, is it really worth being kicked out of their hotel or escorted away by security? Some would say yes (sigh) but I would much rather have lunch or a drink with them after an interview.
After writing several travel stories out of the country it was time to stay at home for a bit, attend events and get back to interviewing.
The Human Rights Campaign have been working for decades for equal rights in the workplace. Their gala was so fun and I spoke to Piper Perabo about her support of our people and appearances in movies playing a lesbian. I felt downright Coyote Ugly in this picture with her but what am I gonna ask for a retake? The singer Tiffany, who recently brought down the house at the House of Blues, and I chatted about her life in my hometown of Nashville. Her and her husband are so warm and I could have talked their ears off all night.
The day after I went to brunch at Big Chicks and hung with Young Sun Han and his boyfriend for meatball sandwiches. He is currently on a successful run with Bravo’s Work of Art. Winning three challenges in a row and bringing attention to gay issues makes this Sun one to watch on the show. It was adorable as several people in the bar came up to Young and showed their appreciation for his work.
I met Princess who is high on being the next RuPaul Drag Race Doll and now finally performing in Chicago after a successful Nebraska and Indiana tour. With three Chicago contestants hopefully we will have a winner out of the bunch or it is going to be a long winter for them. I have known Dida since she was in diapers at About Face Theatre and Phi Phi I will grow to love with that style. Remember lyp-sinc for for your lives ladies or you will never be a queen!
I had lunch with Holland Taylor the next day. She is from television’s  Two and a Half Men who just debuted her one-woman show Ann for Broadway in Chicago. It tells the story of Texas Governor Ann Richards to a new generation. It was such a delight to spend the afternoon with her and hear her stories. What a phenomenal talent she is.
So many celebrities love being in the windy city. Despite the weather the fans are down to earth and not afraid to gush around them. LA and New York people in general are into their own world or taught to ignore someone who is famous because it is the cool thing to do. So next time you see one don’t be afraid to show your appreciation and say hi. Have you spotted your favorite celebrity today?

Patti Stanger

Patti Stanger comes from a long line of matchmakers. The Bravo television show Millionaire Matchmaker is where she spotlights her business Millionaire’s Club International Inc. Patti just debuted her fifth season and it is currently running on the reality channel.

Jerry Nunn: Hi, Patti, great to talk to you again.  You are back in LA for this season of your show. How are they better than the New York daters?

Patti Stanger: I think they’re appreciative and I think it’s a really rough town to be single in as everyone’s beautiful here but nobody commits. So when you have Matthew McConaughey as your poster boy living on the beach in a trailer with two kids and dating a Catholic girl who you don’t marry, you know, anything goes here. We’re the land of anything goes. You can’t do that on Wall Street.

JN: You have a Chicago guy on this season Daniel Kibblesmith.

PS: I personally love Chicago. I think the hottest men come from Chicago. They grow them big there. I like them big and burly.

Jeff Lewis 2

House developer Jeff Lewis has now completed five seasons on his hit Bravo television show Flipping Out. The finale airs this week and Nunn on the Run spoke to him about the series.

Jerry Nunn: Hi, Jeff. We haven’t talked in a while. When are you coming to visit Chicago?

Jeff Lewis: You know what? That’s kind of up in the air right now because I’ve been talking with a company about doing a restaurant there. A big rooftop, bar, restaurant. And I’m trying to work that out with my schedule. But I could potentially be spending a lot of time in Chicago.

JN: It looked like there were some office problems on this season.

JL: So I don’t understand why we can’t keep an employee. I mean I don’t get it. And it’s not just me because I know that’s what you’re thinking. These kids that are getting out of college and they want to be VP in three weeks and they don’t get what it takes to be successful. I think one of the reasons why Jenni  and I have been together so long is that we know nothing comes easy. We work really, really hard and we don’t expect to have something the next day. It takes years and years and years to achieve what we’re trying to achieve.

The Bravo Channel has never been the same since The Real Housewives have opened up their homes to viewers over the years. With the New York cast “housewife” doesn’t really pertain to these ladies with tons of projects outside the home. Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan sat down in their hotel with Nunn on the Run recently to discuss their current endeavors and how they keep it “Real.”

Jerry Nunn: Hello, ladies!

Ramona Singer: Great to meet you. Would you like some wine?

Sonja Morgan: It’s from her line of Pinot Grigio.

JN: In that case, I will take a sip.

RS: I am doing a wine tasting tonight at Uncorked.

SM: And I am showing off my toaster oven cooking, so Frick and Frack here. I am working on the accessories and a cookbook.

RS: I am donating a dollar per person for local domestic violence shelters from the event tonight.

Bravo’s Million Dollar Decorators is quickly becoming a favorite on Bravo television. A look behind the walls of the rich and famous with a variety of interior designers can inspire viewers to improve their homes as well.

Sitting down with three experienced artists, Martyn, Jeffery and Kathryn that have an eye for style was worth a million words.

Jerry Nunn: Welcome to the Bravo family. Is there a Bravo personality’s home that you would like to get your hands on?

Jeffrey Marks: Rachel Zoe.

What would you to do to her pad?

JM: I’d just clean it up. Make it maybe a little bit more in line with her fashion taste, you know? A little cleaner, a little bit more hip, not so sparing, more decoration, more life to it.

Martyn Lawrence-Bullard: I’m madly in love will all of those Housewives of Beverly Hills and in fact a couple of them are my friends. Camille Grammar has just reached out to me and said that when she buys her new house she actually wants me to redecorate it for her.I’d love to get my hands on some of those houses because, you know, those girls seem to have a lot of money but not a lot of style going on there.

Kathryn Ireland: I mean any of those real housewives all need our help. I mean whether it’s like New York, New Jersey, any of them; they could all use it because they are all quietly desperate housewives in my opinion anyway.

What can this show do for the common viewer?

Art Smith 2

Chef Art Smith has been frying up cuisine for some of the most powerful people in the world, from the Dalai Lama to Oprah Winfrey. Smith has proven he can work with a pressure cooker on Top Chef Masters for Bravo. Nunn on the Run dined with the man behind the sweet potatoes at his restaurant Table Fifty-Two. Jerry Nunn: Hello, Art. What have you been up to? Art Smith: Recently I have been working on my health. I lost a great deal of weight, in fact 110 pounds. I recently cooked for the Dalai Lama, his holiness. I did a vegan lunch because he is Buddhist and I thought it would be differentl. I wanted to stress that not every high profile dinner has to be chicken. Why not do vegetables? I am also launching a new restaurant down south. Where is that going to be? View Full Article »
